Few issues are shaping the future of metro Atlanta more than housing. Across the region, local governments, nonprofits, developers, employers, and philanthropic organizations are investing unprecedented time, resources, and creativity into expanding housing opportunities. Yet despite this momentum, rising home prices, rents, and population growth continue to outpace our collective efforts, making housing affordability one of the region's most pressing challenges.

How do we build on the progress already underway? And how can regional planning, state initiatives, and new federal policies work together to create lasting solutions?

​

Those questions will take center stage at the September 2 Atlanta Regional Housing Forum.

​

The program will feature the public introduction of the Atlanta Regional Commission's new Regional Housing Strategy, a collaborative framework designed to help address housing affordability and increase housing production across the 11-county metropolitan region.

​

Participants will also receive an overview of the recently enacted Road to the 21st Century Housing Act, exploring the legislation's most significant provisions and the new opportunities it creates to strengthen affordable housing development nationwide.

​

The Forum will conclude with a panel discussion examining how regional planning, federal legislation, and Georgia's housing initiatives can work together to expand housing production, preserve existing affordable homes, and better position the Atlanta region to meet the housing needs of current and future residents.
