Mayor Bottoms details housing affordability plan
Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms released long-awaited details Monday for a $1 billion plan to produce and preserve 20,000 affordable housing units across the city over the next seven years.
Those details, unveiled at a groundbreaking of a new 147-unit affordable housing project in south Atlanta, called for dozens of actions that multiple agencies will have to take to reach those lofty goals, including: Developing affordable housing on vacant, publicly owned land; Redeveloping blighted and distressed properties; Expanded home ownership opportunities; Incentivized housing near transit; and Leveraging federal funds.
